Crate training 4 month old with speration anxiety

Just got a 4 month old basset 3 days ago with serious separation anxiety. Trying to kennel train her. I put her in at night, take her out to potty every 4 hours, put her back in, take her out again in the early morning and let her free roam for most of the day except for 1-2 hours while we are home just so she can get used to it. When she’s free roaming she follows me constantly and cries when I’m not near her or she can’t find me. I feel so bad for her. When in her kennel, I give her those kongs with peanut butter, I have a few bones for her to chew on, a puzzle for her to search for treats but she gets uninterested quickly for a hound dog.

How long does this last? Am I doing anything wrong?

Tips and tricks would really help. Thank you!

Sleep Advice Needed

We have a 10 week old puppy who doesn’t want to sleep more than 2 hours at a time. The first week and a half he slept great with no wakeups or only one wakeup each night. Now we’re on a cycle of 3 and 4 wakeups a night, essentially every 2 hours. I try to let him cry it out in the crate and it’s not working. When I wake up to take him out, he’s going potty outside so I hate to say no. We’ve tried to keep his schedule extremely consistent as far as eating, when we leave for work, we come home at lunch, etc. (see below)

His crate has a blanket over the top to make it more like a “den”, he’s got a comfy blanket and pillow combo in there similar to what he naps on in our living room, he has one of my shirts for scent and one of those snuggle puppy sleeping aids. What more can we do??

Schedule: 6-7:30 AM – wake up, potty, play, eat, potty, crate 7:30-12 PM – crate while we work 12-1 PM – potty, outside time, play, back in crate 1-4:30 PM – crate while we work 4:30 – 9:30 PM – potty, play, eat (5:30 -6), nap, potty, play, terrorize the house. I pick up water bowl around 9. 9:30 – 10 PM – outside for last potty, fight to go in crate for bed. 10 – 11 PM – he cries and eventually falls asleep. But then starts the two hour wakeups.

Edit to add: this is not our first puppy. This is our first puppy who has struggled with sleeping!

Off leash training tips???

I will be getting my first basset hound in September when she is 8 weeks. Her name is Winnie.

I was wondering if anyone on this sub has has successful off leash training for their basset & how they managed to do it?

I have probably read every single tips & tricks post on this sub & the other basset sub. Plus i’ve read some articles & watched videos off reddit.

I’ve heard its extremely difficult, but any basset videos i’ve come across it seems that their pups are always off leash trained somehow.

Sorry i’m a little all over the place, I don’t post much on here. Just any & all off leash training tips, successful/ unsuccessful anything helps ❤️

7.5 lbs 😭😭 he’s getting soooo big! A big Theo pupdate!!!

I really wanted to post yesterday but by the time I got home I was very very tired, so here’s your Theo pupdate!!

(3rd photo shows some of my foot because he decided that my foot tasted better than puppy mash)

He’s almost completely weaned off of sweeties milk (he’s not too happy about that lol) and is eating puppy mash (very reluctantly, I might add, if anyone has tips on that, please help!) we give him milk still, it’s a weaning formula or something like that (mom takes care of that so I’m not 100% sure) and he drinks that from a bowl like the big boy he is! I know some of you are going to ask where mom is, Sweetie isn’t with him a majority of the time anymore because whenever they are together the first thing Theo goes for is her milk and she’s like nope! She still checks on him quite often, but is no longer laying with him 24/7 anymore. When we weighed Theo, he was a whopping 7.5 lbs!!! He was a good boy and didn’t wiggle around too much in his box on the scale. He can fully walk now! We let him wander around his room and he plopped onto the dog bed in there and wiggled under the mattress topper we cut up to put under the whelping pen so it’s more comfy for him. He slept there for 30 minutes before I had to move him back to the whelping pen because I got called for dinner. Once he was back in there and comfy with this stuffies he fell right back asleep! And for the biggest part of this update, Theo and Copper met!!!! We introduced Theo to Copper first because Copper is the most laid back and chill dog out of our dogs. I really wanted to get more pictures of their first meeting but even though copper is very chill, we had to have full attention on both copper and Theo to make sure nothing went wrong just to be on the safe side. Little Theo was scared for a minute, but he got brave very quick! The meeting went smoothly. We brought sweetie in while copper was with Theo and nothing went wrong! Sweetie is totally okay with copper being around Theo, next we’ll be introducing Olivia, then lastly, Nova. Theo now has a second room (the kennel) in the living room so he can be out with everyone else!
