We have two bassets who are 3 year old litter mates, Daphne and Layla, and we’ve had them for about a year. They are such loves and SUCH sisters, they go everywhere with each other and snuggle together etc.
But Layla loves to chomp on Daphne’s ear. It’s always the outside, she’s not snuffling under and we clean their ears regularly so it’s not cause of gunk in there. Daphne mostly tolerates it but does cry and snap occasionally.
We’ve tried everything to get Layla to stop. We’ve moved her muzzle away, we’ve blocked her ears with our hands, tried treat reinforcement, and tried that bitter apple spray (Daphne hated it and it didn’t phase Layla at all).
Why is she doing this and how can we get her to stop?
