We adopted our first basset hound (And dog) back in May. He was ~6 and has recently turned 7.
We live by the coast and as winter has come, it’s gotten a lot more cold. I’ve noticed his coat has become more course. From what I’ve read this is normal, but just wanted to sense check.
Specifically for his tail, it feels like that’s lost the most amount of hair, and is now super skinny instead of fluffy.

For what it’s worth, in the past ~2 weeks the temperature has dropped a lot (High 70s to low 60s), and it started raining.
Just want to confirm if this is the normal coat change we should expect. His behavior hasn’t changed at all, he’s just as sweet/energetic as he’s always been!
