So our 15 year old basset recently passed and after a few months, we are ready for another pup! Though I’m having a hard time choosing the proper food. Sometimes I see bassets listed as “large breed” others “medium”. Our Copper topped out at 50lbs, and we fed her Stella and Chewy for many years but noticed she gained so much weight (we were feeding her proper portions). So we made the switch to Just Food For Dogs and she did very well on it. Alleviated eye crusties, she lost weight, shinier coat and more energy.
Now I’m seeing that these food companies may not be the best. Our puppy is currently being fed Blue Buffalo by the breeder. I am just at a loss as what to do. My brain is overwhelmed, lol.
I don’t have a budget, I just want to make the right choice, so any help is appreciated!
