I’ll take grace canoeing ! She would love that! WRONG! She hated every single minute of it! Here’s a pic of her contemplating her life and wondering how she ended up here!

Tell me the pros and cons of owning this breed
My husband and I are about to pull the trigger on a basset hound puppy. I’ve been doing a ton of research and it seems like the perfect fit for our big family (2 adults 6 kids) but I’m hoping for personal experience with this breed. What are the pros and cons? I know they can be prone to ear infections if cleanliness of them isn’t maintained and they can have hip issues and back issues. I’ve also read that they can be very stubborn and hard to train. Is that true? Why should we or shouldn’t we get this breed? Just curious what to expect 🙂 thank you!

Bassetpaws
lol- say that fast ten times in a row. Haha.
Anyway- the sheer size of their paws will always dumbfound me. I’m a 5’3 woman- my hand isn’t tiny nor is it ginormous, but, my boys’ paws are just healthy.

Anyone else’s basset have a weird obsession with socks?
Hey everyone! So my basset, Max, has this quirky habit of stealing socks whenever he can. I don’t know if it’s the smell or just the texture, but he’ll dive into the laundry basket and emerge triumphant with a sock hanging out of his mouth. It’s honestly hilarious, but it’s becoming a bit of a problem during laundry day! 😂 I’ve had to start hiding my favorite pairs. Does anyone else deal with a sock thief, or do your hounds have other funny obsessions? I’d love to hear your stories!

My girl absolutely loves interactive food toys, and I’m not much better when it comes to investing in new ones when I find a different style. I wasn’t sure how my Sheba would like this, since she’s older now and doesn’t really play tug anymore, but I shouldn’t have worried.
My girl absolutely loves interactive food toys, and I’m not much better when it comes to investing in new ones when I find a different style. I wasn’t sure how my Sheba would like this, since she’s older now and doesn’t really play tug anymore, but I shouldn’t have worried. She dove into this toy with the same enthusiasm she does with other puzzles- with everything she has. Although my girl is not a destructive chewer, the rubber is pretty strong, and I’m confident it would have held up to my pittie Athena when she was alive. Though I would caution against leaving any dog unattended with it. There are additional holes for food to fall out of and reinforce the pup for interacting with it while learning about pulling out the fleece. If you have large kibble, you’d have to pull out the fleece in at least one hole to fit them, but they will fit. As they get better and you want to increase the difficulty, let them play outside in a grassy area. 5 out of 5, and definitely a steal for the price.
