Basset Hounds for You

We’re going on a trip soon and wanted to take our girl Murphy with us. We’ve never traveled with her or any other pet before and I was wondering how do you guys travel with your pups? We’ve got a Ford escape so it’s not the biggest vehicle. Do you use a crate? If so what crate would you recommend? Or do you throw a blanket in the back and let her chill?

What do you guys do for allergies? My basset is suffering pretty bad. I noticed he has accidents in the house A LOT when his allergies are acting up. We’ve tried a few different food brands and they’ve all caused him to itch a lot. And now this new food we’ve been on, he’s been good on it for about 2 months but all of a sudden his allergies seem way worse. His ears are raw and itchy, his eyes are red, his armpits are red, he’s irritable. Idk if it’s food allergies or seasonal or a mix of both. He’s constantly barking and whining because of it. For food allergies the vet always told us to just start taking ingredients out of his food to narrow it down to see what he’s allergic too, but that gets expensive because you’d have to buy a new bag constantly to keep trying. And for seasonal allergies- I don’t want to keep him high off benedryl. Can the vet help with both? Probiotics? Idk where to even start

So I have a basset hound who is 14 and the vets have said its most likely dementia that he has, (that was a while ago, maybe a year). When he’s being put to bed he would normally bark for a bit and then settle down. But now he barks for about two hours straight. Tonight he has seemingly barked from 10pm till about 2am. Its 3am and I have anxiety and insomnia and he’s starting again. What can I do to settle him? He has food and water and bedding along with toys. I’m scared of the neighbours reaction.
