What is this?

What is this guys? Lately he’s been trying to bury his bone in the carpet so I thought it was rug burn? But he’s also been itching like crazy did he do this? He had a vet appointment Tuesday for cytopoint so I’ll be asking the vet about the wound on his nose but I’m scared… also when I check his front teeth there’s like hair stick in his gums I tried yanking it out but Fred hates anything dealing with his mouth he won’t let me

One month in – so much progress!

I adopted an older basset hound nearly a month ago, and she’s really come out of her shell. Her name is Ladybird, and she’s the goodest girl.

She came from a terrible situation, and when she came home, she was afraid to even go outside, because she’d been abandoned there, and it terrified her. I would have to carry her out to go do her business.

Now, she runs around outside, sometimes with another dog friend. She enjoys sunning herself, which makes me feel so happy for her, because she had been left out in the heat, and had been so scared of it.

She never made a sound for a couple of weeks, but now she comes over and does one sound that means she wants belly rubs, and she now gives me very clear signals that she needs to go out, instead of holding it like she used to.

Earlier, she came over to me a few times and I thought she wanted to go out again, but it turned out she just wanted to tell me that she wanted her bed closer to mine. She’s snoozing peacefully now, and I love how happy she is.

I’m surprised how well she listens, and stays near me, too. She had never been treated like a pet before (backyard breeder situation) and I didn’t think she’d take to me this well. She follows after me all over the apartment, and when we go for a walk, I don’t really need a leash for her unless we’re near a road, because she follows along just fine.

She is getting a little spoiled, but that’s my own fault, I guess. I wanted to give her a little taste of the high life, and may have gone overboard. 🙃

Peeing everywhere

My basset is now 1. He’s fully potty trained and goes to the back door when he needs to go out. He’s also now fixed. Lately, he has had major potty training regression. He’s peeing in our bed, in our carpets, the couch, the floor, and not even telling us he has to go. He just squats and pees. Doesn’t lift his leg like he normally does outside. I don’t know what it could be. I don’t think it’s a UTI because he doesn’t seem to be in pain.
