Basset Hounds for You

Rugger likes laying on his stacked up cushions, they used to be in various places, but he drug them all in the living room, so we stacked em up, and he now uses them as hiding places for his toys, or he just flops down on them a sinks almost out of sight after a few minutes.

My basset was bitten on the ear by another dog on 07/28/24, a little less than a month ago. She was 12 weeks at the time. The other dog bit a hole through her ear leaving a small scar. It’s very obvious because the hair hasn’t grown back yet… Do you guys think this will be a permanent bald spot on her ear? Is it too late to put any kind of salve or cream on it since it’s pretty much healed? I just kept antibiotic cream on it while it was fresh. Didn’t think about hair growing back being an issue. Maybe I haven’t given enough time. Advice appreciated!

A ride is her happiness. The faster the better.

From my last post, this was my pupper. I want to share the good moments. Thank you to everyone who commented on my ‘He’s gone’ post.

He loved attention and scratches. Big fan of food and snuggles. He was so loving. I have so many happy memories with him. He was stubborn like me lol. He was very good at tricks. He despised the rain, if we were on a walk and it started to rain (as it does frequently in Ireland) He would just abruptly turn around the second a drop landed on him and I still remember having to run with him back home cause evidently it was an emergency to him not to get wet.

When he was a puppy he used to sleep in my room with me until the faithful day where he thought I must have looked very comfy and lay across me in my sleep. Waking up gasping and having to roll a basset off you who is knocked out from his own sleep is a difficult task.

He was a silly little goober. I have a spaniel who is long haired and I started to clip him to keep him clean and to deal with the summer heat better. One day after I clipped my Spaniel, the had all the hair on the floor ready to pick up and bin. Arnold comes in and goes for the hair, picked it up in his mouth and threw it in the air like it was confetti. It was funny but also there hair everywhere lol.

Arnold was my first basset hound. My first dog was a spaniel and when it came to getting another dog, I wanted a different breed as I thought another spaniel would be too painful at the time and that I didn’t want my last dog to feel replaced with the same breed. Arnold was so special to me as I’m sure every dog is to their owner.

New basset owner here! We have two bassets and also a blue tick coonhound. Wondering what is your preferred ear cleaning method for daily ear cleaning? I don’t want to irritate their ears so I want to be carful with the products. Pic for tax of our 5 month old bass baby

Our sweet boys. Callahan is named after Callahan Auto Parts, and Tupper is named after a lake in NY. I never understood how some people could only have one breed of dog their entire life until I began dating my now husband, who had an 11 year old basset named Copper when we first met. Despite their selective hearing, attitude, and warm frito smell, I don’t think I can have anything other than a basset hound now.
