Itching

My little buddy is about a year and a half old, and has started itching a whole lot roughly 2 weeks ago. It’s mainly his belly, under his front arms, and he licks his paws quite a bit. I cannot figure out what is causing it. He has been on the same food for quite some time, but about a week ago, I switched his food to the lamb and rice from the chicken and rice to see if that would help. So far, it does not seem to have helped.

I’ve been giving him Zyrtec and Benadryl(not at the same time), and also have some antiseptic itch spray I’ve been using, but that seems to only slightly temporarily help. I also put some A&D ointment on the spot on his belly.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, as I cannot really afford a huge vet bill right now.

Basset Exercise

Hi guys , I am a first time basset owner . My honey just turned 1 year old and I live in the city so we take multiple short walks a day for potty purposes . i keep track of our steps and we average between 2000 ( if the pavement is hot and we have to stick on our grass only route ) and 5000 a day on our walks specifically . with some rough math that equals out to 1-2 miles a day . she’s about 40 pounds and doesn’t have any health issues that i know of , she’s super energetic but my concern is if she’s getting sufficient exercise or if she’s getting “too much” . I know that bassets are prone to diabetes so i’ve been trying to be diligent about making sure she gets time to run around and stuff but i’m also worried about her joints getting worn out over time . I just want her to live a long , happy , healthy and comfortable life ❤️ TYIAA
