Basset Hounds for You

Hi all! I’m in the process of adopting a wonderful 6 year old boy very soon!

I’d love to know what surprised you about your bassets when you got them or over time.

Any particular items or accessories that you found particularly useful in keeping up with and/or cleaning up after your hound?

Hi, a couple years ago I inherited Snoopy from my grandparents. He’s absolutely lovely to me, and hasn’t got much of an issue with doing what he’s told, but lately I’ve noticed that he is awful to my parents. He is usually fine with them, but will often growl and snarl when they approach him, especially at night.

Has anyone got any idea on how to stop this behaviour? It’s bordering on aggressive and I’d hate for him to actually hurt them.

Hi all! On my last Copper update I got so many kind words. Thank you for that, it has really helped. Copper is starting chemotherapy on Friday. I’m going to keep pictures to a minimum during this time due to my mom’s wishes. The vet said that chemotherapy will be used to treat the cancer until we can get him scheduled for surgery. The cancer has not spread, so we have a very high chance of saving my boy! I cannot stress this enough KEEP AN EMERGENCY FUND FOR YOUR PETS!!! YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN!!! if we didn’t have this emergency fund saved we wouldn’t be able to treat Copper. Thank you once again for all the kind words and encouragement. I read every single comment to Copper, and will continue to do so.
