The bell never stops

Looking for advice/thoughts. We have a 13-week old basset named Barkley. He is a handful but is learning.

We’re using the bell system on the patio door that he can ring those when he needs to potty. He is still having accidents a bit but it is much improved.

The issue is he is CONSTANTLY ringing the bell. I think he thinks he can ring it for potty or just when he wants to go play in the grass. He will ring it, I’ll take him out, he’ll do number one, maybe stay out for a bit, and we go in. Five mins later he’s ringing again. I think no, he doesn’t have to go but then I find pee on the floor.

I also don’t want to ignore the bells even if we just went out 2 mins ago because I want him to use them for potty and to know ringing them opens the door, but half the time he just wants to chew on the grass. I have to be out with him as we don’t have a fenced yard and we have a spot of lava rock landscaping next to his potty area and he keeps trying to eat the rocks.

He will literally ask to go out every few mins for a couple hours while I’m working (from home) — sometimes he potties a little, others not at all. He is also a big whiner to go out. Any suggestions?

Arthritis and pain meds not working anymore. I know what to do. But…

Hello. My hounds name is Ronnie he’s 13 1/2 years old. He’s been in monthly arthritis shot (Librela) for a year, I saw him struggling to get out of bed so I knew immediately something was wrong. Took him to the vet and put him in two more pain meds. ( carprofen and gabapentin) soon after he struggled to walk, look confused and loosing his balance. Took him to the vet again and they told me he’s in extreme pain and that those are the side affects of his meds. I can’t see my Ronnie like this those side effects are awful, so they wanna put him on cbd tablets and see what happens. BUT I can’t let my best friend have this pain and wait for the results. Do I give it one more try or I wait? he will probably be in pain again. He is in the emergency section right now with an iv for pain and picking him up tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Easy On/Off Harnesses?

We’re thinking about switching Brucey to the Two Hounds Freedom No-Pull harness. What size did you get for your basset? Brucey is 1yr old and 52lbs. We’re on vacation and can’t measure him right now 😊

We likeness use the harness for every single time he goes out, but takenit off when he’s inside – is it easy enough to quickly go on and off?

Open to other recommendations! Ty!
