Want to start scent games

To keep my 8 year old stimulated in a different way this winter as his paws aren’t taking to ice and salt, despite boots.

I have a fairly large and open layout for him to roam and search but I really don’t know where to start.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on YouTube or something? Or share how you do it, if you do?

Thanks!

Basset Mix Puppy Advice on separation anxiety

Hello! My husband and I rescued Sable about a week ago and she’s 12 weeks old today. We’ve confirmed her mother is a full basset, not sure about her dad but our best guess is beagle. We’ll be DNA testing her to confirm for possible genetic issues.

She’s an incredibly sweet girl and we’re doing alright with potty training and basic commands. She seems to have a high level of separation anxiety, as in if we’re not in her eyeline she’ll absolutely freak out and cry and scream. We’re attempting crate training and making the crate her happy safe place, but it’s not going well. Even with toys, chew sticks, and me sitting next to the crate and only being in there for short periods, she’s not taking to it.

Does anyone have any advice on separation anxiety for her? We’re doing our best and love her so much already, I just want her to be more comfortable and for us to get some rest.

Anyone have any experience with their basset hound and Valley Fever?

My sweet boy recently was diagnosed with Valley Fever and I was wondering if anyone has had personal experience with it. He is on a steroid and the fungal medication that the vet prescribed to him and seems to be recovering quite well however I was wondering if anyone has dealt with it and if their doggo had any lingering side effects from the illness. Thanks.
