My basset pup will be 6 months old in a couple days and I rescued her from an elderly couple about 3 weeks ago. Since I brought her home, I’ve been very intentional with socializing her and introducing her to new people, new places, etc. and so far, has been doing AMAZING!

Until yesterday…

I picked her up from doggy day care and needed to go get her more food. We were passing Petsmart on the way home, so I decided, okay, let’s do it. For her first trip, she was doing great, taking it all in, and then a display fell and made a loud noise. The hairs on her back stood up, and she tried to run away, hunkering down and almost like she was looking for a place to hide. After this, she stopped wanting any treats or listening to anything I had to say and was constantly whimpering and whining until we left. Since last night, any time there’s any loud noise, she gets really skittish with her tail going down and hunkering down like she’s scared or shy. I really don’t want this behavior to continue as I want her to be as socialized as possible and I’m unsure of what to do and where to go from here.

The couple I rescued her from genuinely LOVED her and she was only rehomed due to some health issues in the people themselves, not because of anything to do with her behavior or temperament. Up until this point, she has not been skittish or frightful of ANYTHING and she doesn’t have any behavior issues or previous abuse or anything like that which is why I’m more worried and wanting to be proactive about this. She is a genuinely happy, chill puppy who up to this point, has been a down for anything type of gal.

Any and all advice appreciated.

Hey all! Looking for recommendations for a comfy bed for my 7 mo basset. She has a large cot that has a slick fabric topper with elevated pillow-like siding, but she doesn’t like it. She prefers her brother’s that’s plush and furry and too small for her (her brother is a toy poodle.) She only likes it because it’s not hers, and also we don’t want a fluffy material for her because of how much she sheds-it would just be easier to clean and maintain.
Does anybody have any plush/squishy bed recs that are also good for their joints and bones? Also, if it’s not an elevated bed my cat will pee on it, but I think we’d be okay if we put the blanket on the bed… maybe

My basset came home from being boarded this weekend with a runny nose/sneeze and a little bit of congestion (only noticeable at all when she’s sleeping). I’m think she just has a doggy cold or allergies. Does anyone have any at home remedies or simple tricks that may alleviate her symptoms?
