Grieving

My 10 year old basset lost her fight to cancer in January. I’m having a really hard time getting over it. What makes it really hard is that my 4 year old Basset Hound just walks around bored and goes outside 150x a day now out of boredom. I still cry multiple times a week and whenever I think of her I break down in tears. I have lost pets in the past and my grieving has only been a few days. I can’t get over losing this one and I hate myself that I can’t. She was the best dog ever and loved everyone and she didn’t deserve a horrible cancer. My 4 year old Basset has gotten a lot more clingy since Lucy passed and I keep telling her she has to learn to be by herself she can’t always go everywhere with us.

Places to Rehome Basset Hound Mix in Michigan

Hello,

I am wondering if there are any good avenues to rehome a Basset hound mix dog in Michigan. We have a 4 year old basset / German short haired pointer mix who is my absolute baby. Sadly, he has become aggressive to our cats over the last few years and is also food aggressive. We had a baby 6 months ago, and there was an incident with our cats and Odin that would have badly injured our son if he was anywhere close to the incident. He would do best in a home with no young kids, no cats, and no other dogs (or an owner familiar with food aggressive dogs). He does have a very well managed medical condition that requires medication and a prescription diet. We are working with our vets office to see if there is any client of theirs, but wanted to see if there are any other recommendations. He is such a cuddle bug and just wants to cuddle on a couch in a quiet home.
