Basset Hounds for You

In four days my husband is picking up our Bassett puppy. Just want some advice, we’ve owned beagles so we’re used to the ear cleaning and food driven lifestyle lol. We have small kids too and I know they’re a great family dog. We’re very excited. I’ve heard potty training can be difficult

My 8 month old basset hound is riddled with problems, he’s had on going anal gland build up problems (trying to fix with adding more fiber into diet, and now he has little red bumps/scabs on his body causing irritation. Could this be a diet thing or is there something that I should do to help, because the vet isn’t much to any help.
