Neutering and cherry eye questions

I have a 4m old male and the guy I got him from said it’s best to wait at least a year to neuter due to the dwarfism gene. My vet said 6m of age is fine.

My dilemma is that he also has cherry eye that I want to get taken care of and I want to limit the times under anesthesia, so I would also get him neutered at the same time if possible. My boyfriend wants the eye taken care of like yesterday and I’m trying to hold him off until the time I neuter. Also it’s only one eye and the vet says it’s likely the other eye will go soon too and it hasn’t yet.

Also the technique the vet recommends for cherry eye is the tack down one. My dogs dad (sire?) had cherry eye in both eyes and he had the glands completely removed. Vet said if the tacking doesn’t work then we can remove the glands. The breeder also says if the tacking down doesn’t work it could really harm his eye and I haven’t been able to find anything on that.

Anyone have any input on what I should do?
