Getting a Basset – tips?

Hi!

Im a 27 year old girl who lives in Norway. In my family home we have a border colle x Golden retriever (most likely, he’s a rescue). He’s the sweetest. Now I’m thinking of getting a dog of my own. I live in a city but it’s close to mountains and obviously it’s close to the nature as it’s Norway haha. I live in an apartment and my boyfriend will be helping me. How is a Basset for a frist «own» dog? I know it’s not optimal, but can I have it in an apartment without a yard? (I’ll of course walk it multiple times every day).

Is it difficult to train? I want to try and do some activities so he’ll have something to challenge him. Like agility or gathering excercises which are big in Norway. Can I get some tips?
