Anyone have experience with a wheelchair?
My senior basset hound mix has developed pretty bad arthritis in his back legs and they basically don’t function at all anymore. The supplements and medicine just aren’t doing it anymore. He is still happy and has so much energy and an appetite for life. Our vet recommended a wheelchair for him. It’s been two weeks- and he only wants to push backward. We’ve made sure it’s fitted properly and it was specially ordered due to his funky body type. I also tried a back leg harness and he’s doing the same thing. It’s making it extremely difficult for him to relieve himself in the yard. Anyone have any advice on getting him to stop pushing back so much? His front legs are so strong and every now and then it clicks and he can walk forward really fast. But 85% of the time it doesn’t click for him.

Fund raising for surgery? Short story in body of this post
So I’m the father of Moose. The basset poodle mix you all have seen. He was recently diagnosed with angular limb deformity and UAP. And in order to fix one thing we have to fix the other unfortunately and as a single income family (mine only as my wife stays home with our two young boys) the surgery is quite shocking to say the least. It’s estimated to be around $7900-$8700 give or take. We did a go fund me a while back and managed to raise $1,300 which is amazing. I know a lot of people don’t trust go fund me as there are a lot of scams. Anyway, we recently started working with a nonprofit organization called Northern Adirondack pet fund who fully vetted us ( no pun intended lol) and who also work directly with our vet. So we see none of the proceeds and all monies collected through donations go directly into moose’s account at the vet.
My question is would it be ok to post this organizations page here to hopefully get some more help and awareness for moose and our family?
I tried contacting the moderators of this reddit a few weeks ago with no answer so that’s why I’m asking everyone else if it would be ok.
Sorry for the lengthy post and if anyone has any questions feel free to DM me and I can provide pictures of moose, his X-rays, our vet office estimate.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and I hope everyone has a blessed and wonderful day 🙂
