Ear cleaning

New basset owner here! We have two bassets and also a blue tick coonhound. Wondering what is your preferred ear cleaning method for daily ear cleaning? I don’t want to irritate their ears so I want to be carful with the products. Pic for tax of our 5 month old bass baby

Pee inside remedy

One more question (just posted another a min ago) –

Looking for recommendations on how to clear up the smell of basset pee on a rug, that also encourages the pup not to go there again (he’s gone in the exact same spot three nights this week).

I’ve used natures best advanced stain and odor eliminator spray (the red bottle) and vinegar and also baking soda, let it soak for a whole day etc etc but not sure if anyone else has a better product, process or recommendation in general.

He’s gone

Today I said goodbye to my basset hound of 14 years. The house is so quiet.

I asked about his declining health about a month ago and he bounced back but only for a few weeks before his quality of life had really declined significantly.

The last dog I lost was a spaniel prior to getting my basset. My eyes feel like they’re on fire from random and intense bouts of crying. It’s been about 8 hours and I miss him so much. I’m just grateful that I got 14 years ❤️

Callahan & Tupper

Our sweet boys. Callahan is named after Callahan Auto Parts, and Tupper is named after a lake in NY. I never understood how some people could only have one breed of dog their entire life until I began dating my now husband, who had an 11 year old basset named Copper when we first met. Despite their selective hearing, attitude, and warm frito smell, I don’t think I can have anything other than a basset hound now.

This little girlie is closing in on her first full 24 hrs in her forever home

Adopted this incredible young lady over the weekend from a wonderful Bassett rescue in South Carolina, BaRCSE.

Picked her up Sunday morning, drove 15 hours in some god awful weather but finally made it back to NY. Morning #1 was met with fleas. Took care of that fairly quickly. She met a lot of people today and spent a lot of time playing and sleeping.
