Hank is suddenly scared of the back door :(
Hello everyone!
So a random issue appeared yesterday with Hank (almost 1 year old) and we have no idea how to handle it. It’s probably a general dog training problem, but he’s a basset hound so I thought I’d post here!
Suddenly, out of nowhere it seems, he is afraid of the back door. In the room where the back door is, he now just paces and is clearly uncomfortable being here. I can get him outside with a lot of bribing and prodding but once he’s outside he will just stand about 15 feet from the door and bark. To the point where I have to physically pick him up and bring him inside myself. I have been thinking really hard about what could have caused this. The ONLY thing that has changed is that my husband used WD-40 on the door to un-stick it. That was yesterday, though, and today I no longer smell it but he is still afraid 🙁
Is it possible for a dog to be scared of a smell? We have had him since he was 6 months old and never noticed anything weird until now. How can I get him comfortable enough to freely come in and out again without any fear?
Pic of Hank attached with his favorite toy!

She is extremely lazy puppy (4 months). It is obvious she did not enjoy her first walk in wet weather!

She was so little
Hard to believe this was a year ago. I had to lift her onto the ledge.
