Except, he’s blind. Can you all fill me in on basset behavior, and if you have a blind dog/know a blind dog. Training tips as well! It’s still a high maybe. But I’m contemplating it

Hi all! We recently adopted a 3.5 month old puppy basset. Fortunately, he has no current health issues. Our vet is recommending to start him on Adequan injections to prevent joint issues in the future. I have heard of this medicine being used for dogs with arthritis and joint pain for relief, but not as a preventative tool for puppies with no current issues. I wanted to reach out to the community and see if others might have some thoughts or experiences with this?

Hi all! We recently adopted a 3.5 month old puppy basset hound mix. Fortunately, he does not have current health issues, but his vet noted that bassets are more prone to joint problems. They recommended Adequan shots (2x/week for four weeks, then 1x/monthly) as a preventative measure. I’ve heard of Adequan being used for dogs with joint problems, but not as a preventative measure. I wanted to reach out to the basset hound owner community and gather some thoughts and opinions?

He was fine an hour ago. Got up off of his cot, threw up, laid down panting for about 10 minutes then went to the front door to go outside. I took him outside and then he laid down in front of the door, laid down, rolled to his side and stopped breathing. He was an old man, but I thought I had some more time with him.
