Are some bassets ears shorter than others?

I have a purebred basset named Mortimer and he has the usual long basset ears. On the other hand, Cooper, our other basset doesn’t have as long ears as Morty. Both Cooper and Morty are Tricolor and they’re not from the same litter. Could Cooper be a mix or is it normal for Basset ear lengths to vary.
