Last cry for help!

Alright guys and gals, we all know the Chronicles of Basset Potty Training. But I am on the verge of surrender…

I love this dog, she is my little floopie sausage. But I am so stuck I don’t know where else to turn.

I tried Crate training, she potties in the crate. I tried bell training, I tried letting her go out with my Chow and maybe catch a clue. I cannot leave her unattended. And truly I mean even turning my back. One of the big issues is unless you are watching her outside, she will not poop outside. And I mean you have to force her. She will typically come back 3-4 times before she poops. And damn she better stare deep in to your soul as she’s pooping or she won’t do it. However she will go out and pee without hesitation, but again you must be there.

This is bath number 4 this week because she pooped in the crate with no alert. Oh and of course she must nearly BATHE in it! She must. If poop is not covering nearly every ounce of her little sausage body, it is not good enough.

She has gotten better than she was. But the constant baths and the constant stench… it is truly taking me down. She is a little over a year old. She is fixed.

My partner and I do both work, and the dogs are home by themselves for ~5 hours or so at least 4 days out of the week. My Chow will not potty in his crate unless it is true dire straights; my little sausage has no second thoughts. My partner has lost all patience, and I mean all. But I am coming to try and ask for any mitigation ideas, or unique ideas. I do think she might do well with a doggie door, however I rent and my landlord said no.
