Bassett howling

We have a 10 month old Bassett and she has never howled. We have three other dogs, mixed breeds, who don’t howl either. We have tried to get the Basset started by howling, but all the dogs seem to get disturbed and think we are in distress, LOL. They all run over and try to comfort us! We finally got one of our dogs to howl, but it wasn’t the basset! Does she need to learn how from other bassets or do they not start until they are older? We had a basset years ago and she howled all the time. I don’t get it.
