Mr. Bruce re-tested positive for all 4 of his parasites that he came home from the breeder with; Giardia, coccidia, hookworm, and roundworm. He’s acting just fine, great poops, and his energy and appetite are definitely back.
I specifically asked his vet if he could attend Thanksgiving at the in-laws and she said his results were so low that she wouldn’t even worry about it and to just pick up any poops. She also doesn’t want to do any more treatment, and wants to do a re-test in a month to see if it’s all gone. Does that makes sense?
Needless to say, our in-laws called their vet and simply told them their son’s dog has 4 parasites and would he be safe to have over on Thanksgiving?
Of course the vet said absolutely not. I totally understand not 2anting to risk exposing exposing their dog. Of course! But I also trust our vet, and I have to think that the difference in the two vets’ opinions is the difference of knowing the specifics vs general knowledge.
We were just so excited to have our first Thanksgiving as a family. 😔
Is it normal to wait and see if, after a week of treatment, any of these 4 parasites go away on their own in the month following the completion of treatment?
