I feel awful when I have work parties or things that are mandatory for me to do after work.

Today I had to go to a work party, luckily they let me leave early so I could go let him out and walk him. He is with me constantly on weekends, and gets 3 walks a day. But I feel sooooo guilty during mandatory outings that I can’t get out of. What are some pick me ups you do for your basset when your gone for longer periods? 💔 Just stating he is a rescue and he does not like dog parks or playing with other dogs much. He’s also a one person dog as anyone else besides me he is terrified of.

Won’t walk anymore

We just recently moved and Fred was fine the first week going on walks running and then joying life. Now all of a sudden he refuses to walk. If I get his harness he will be so happy let me dress him then we make it to the driveway before he refuses to move. Luckily we have a backyard so he will go out there but what gives?

help!

my 5 month old basset is really rough with my cat (who is 1, been with me her whole life, and doesn’t know how to set firm boundaries). She climbs on top of and bites the cat. It’s playful but it’s too rough for my 10lbs cat. The cat isn’t scared, she actually instigates it, but cries out in pain a few minutes later and I have to come save her. They are never in the same space unless I am there to distract the dog. When she gets to the cat I yell at her loudly and she usually backs off but only for a second. It seems to be her favorite game. I wonder if im making the cat seem like something special by separating them so much. But I worry. My hope is that when puppy grows up a bit and is more lazy, she won’t feel like bothering kitty so much. Thoughts ? I grew up with a basset, we didn’t get her as a puppy but she really wasn’t interested in the cats.

Basset hound addition

Hi everyone!

I have a 3 year old standard daschund and I’m considering getting him a basset friend.

I have a few questions for the basset owners to make sure I’m well prepared before making this decision:

⭐️ Do Bassets shed massively? Even if groomed regularly?

⭐️ Any hacks for housetraining?

⭐️ Any tricks to make sure he forms a good relationship with my daxie?

⭐️ I live in a small 2 bedroom terraced house with a medium sized enclosed garden, is this a fair space for a basset (plus my current daxie)?

Thank you so much 🙏
