Basset Hounds for You

Help! Has anyone else had a basset hound with anal gland issues? I’ve had numerous dogs throughout life, but I have never had one with anal gland issues. I think my pup is going to be one that does though. I have noticed withing the past couple of days he seems to struggle while potty-ing and then today I noticed a fishy like odor coming from his bottom half and of course google took my straight to anal gland issues. He isn’t scooting or licking at the area and it does look red, swollen, or irritated as far as I can tell. Any advice, tips, tricks, or help on this matter in general is welcome! He will be going to the vet in the morning I just wanted others to give input based on personal experience with this. Thanks!!!

Do you think your Bassett would attack an intruder? Or something trying to harm you?

The top dog in the first picture (literally and figuratively) is my girl and the bottom dog is my most abused and as a result very subservient

My kids think she would attack anyone who came after me (to be fair, she will make it a point to stand between me and anyone who does not live here), they think he would protect all the food. My boy in the blue chair in the second picture is a nervous Nelly around men. I live alone (except for when my kids are here). The other pictures are just for fun…

I just wonder what my trio would do. Have you ever seen your basset go into protective mode? (Against either four or two legged being?)

Dumbo ran into our sliding glass door today and got a little boo boo under his eye🤦🏼‍♀️ He heard their grandmaw come in and decided to try to run past Duke without seeing the sliding door half open. He is okay, being goofy as normal, and mom is more hurt than he is!😭😭😂

Squirtus is on the left, she just about died within the first few weeks of life. The other pups wouldn’t let her eat. She ended up being hand fed, and she’s extremely intelligent almost like a Papillion. Squirt barks, spins flips and rolls over all on COMMAND. Millie her sister on the right was the pick of the litter for dog AKC shows!

Decided to roll the dice and grab this bouncing vibrating ball from Amazon, I was a little worried it would scare him but he loves it! It only works for like 15 at a time so it isn’t too over stimulating but it keeps him busy!
