What do you use to hold your Bassett hound’s ears back while they eat?

Apologies for the content of the photo but I writing this while I wait to hear back from the vet.

Houston (6.5 months) just got neutered less than 6 hours ago. And I just noticed that his wound looks like this, red and with inflammation. I don’t remember any of our boss to look like this after being neutered.

What are your thoughts? My wife used to work at the humane society and says that she don’t remember ever seeing it like this.
